Lighthouse ("we", "us", or "our") operates at lighthouse.fyi. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information.

By using Lighthouse, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Name and email address (via account signup through Clerk)
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store card details)
  • Content you input when configuring Beacons, including topic descriptions, competitor names, and source URLs

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, Beacon run history
  • Log data: IP address, browser type, device type, timestamps
  • Authentication tokens (managed by Clerk)

Information from third-party services

  • Clerk provides us with your email address and user ID upon signup
  • Stripe provides subscription status, plan, and customer ID (not card details)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Operate the Lighthouse service, including running your Beacons and generating briefings
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts, credit alerts)
  • Improve and debug the service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. AI Processing

Lighthouse uses Anthropic Claude to generate intelligence briefings. When a Beacon runs, the content scraped from your configured sources is sent to Anthropic's API for analysis. This content may include publicly available web content relevant to your monitoring topics.

We do not send your personal profile information to Anthropic. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on PostgreSQL databases hosted on Railway (United States). We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 30 days after deletion
  • Briefings and signal data are retained for the life of your account
  • Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax law
  • Server logs are retained for up to 90 days

6. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may disclose it to:

  • Service providers: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Railway (infrastructure), Anthropic (AI processing) — each bound by their own privacy obligations
  • Law enforcement or regulators: where required by law or to protect our legal rights
  • Successors: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the incoming party honouring this policy

7. Cookies

Lighthouse uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. Authentication cookies are managed by Clerk.

You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to use the service.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

9. International Transfers

Your data is processed and stored in the United States (Railway infrastructure) and may be processed by Anthropic and Stripe, which also operate internationally. By using Lighthouse, you consent to this transfer.

10. Children's Privacy

Lighthouse is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at support@lighthouse.fyi and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
